About Ching

Ching Discs is a California-based manufacturer known for producing uniquely designed discs with distinctive grip patterns and premium plastic blends. With a focus on craftsmanship and innovation, Ching has built a reputation for creating discs that combine novel aesthetics with reliable flight characteristics, appealing to players seeking both performance and collectibility in their disc selection.

History

Ching Discs was founded in 2007 by David Ching, a mechanical engineer and disc golf enthusiast who saw an opportunity to apply his engineering background to disc design. Dissatisfied with the limited innovation he observed in the market at that time, Ching set out to create discs with unique features that would stand out both visually and in performance. The company made its first impression with the introduction of the Roc-inspired Juju midrange, which featured their signature "beer tab" grip pattern—a distinctive raised texture on the flight plate that provided enhanced grip in various weather conditions. This innovative approach to disc texture quickly became Ching's trademark, with subsequent releases including the Bomb, Beast, and Popcorn each featuring unique grip patterns specifically designed for their intended use. While Ching Discs has maintained a relatively small production scale compared to major manufacturers, they have developed a dedicated following of collectors and players who appreciate their attention to detail and willingness to experiment with unconventional design elements. Despite production challenges that have occasionally led to limited availability, Ching continues to release small batches of their classic molds alongside new designs, maintaining their status as a boutique manufacturer focused on quality and innovation rather than mass production.
