History
Disc Golf UK was founded in 2012 by Charlie Mead, a British disc golf pioneer who recognized the need for dedicated equipment and advocacy to grow the sport in the United Kingdom. After years of importing American discs at significant expense, Mead set out to create a domestic disc golf brand that would reduce barriers to entry for British players while celebrating the unique aspects of UK disc golf culture. The company began primarily as a distributor and retailer before venturing into manufacturing with their first UK-produced disc, the "Monarch," in 2014, named after the British monarchy and featuring design elements inspired by British heraldry. They followed with the "Thames" midrange and "Clifton" putter, each named after iconic British locations and designed with flight characteristics suited to the often windy and compact UK courses. Beyond manufacturing, Disc Golf UK has distinguished itself through its comprehensive approach to growing the sport, combining equipment sales with course design services, tournament organization, and educational programs.
