About Legacy
Legacy Discs stands as a pioneering force in the disc golf manufacturing industry, combining decades of competitive playing experience with innovative product design to create high-quality discs that meet the needs of players at all skill levels. Founded and operated by brothers Steve and Bamba Rico out of Sylmar, California, the company has established itself with a vision to become "the world's leading manufacturing company for Disc Golf products and services," providing the disc golf community with equipment that reflects their extensive expertise in competition, tournament directing, teaching programs, and event sponsorship.
History
The Rico brothers' journey began in the mid-1980s when they discovered disc golf at the Sylmar Disc Golf Course as children, a passion that evolved into serious competitive careers with Steve eventually rising to become the second-ranked disc golfer in the United States. After decades of involvement in the sport, they established Legacy Discs around 2011, transitioning from their family's concrete construction business to disc manufacturing despite significant challenges in mastering the chemistry and aerodynamics of plastic production. What started in a garage has now expanded to three warehouses, with the company recently celebrating its 10-year anniversary, having developed a comprehensive line of products with various plastic blends—Excel, Protégé, Pinnacle, Icon, and Gravity—each designed with specific flight characteristics and grip qualities that reflect their player-centric approach to design and manufacturing.
